It
is rightly stated in Quran “Travel through the land and observe how He began
creation “. Travelling through the world has turned to be an Islamic hobby.
According to the report presented by Thomson Reuters, excluding the Hajj and Umrah,
the total global spending of Muslim population has reached to $151 billion in
the year 2015 on travelling. This growth has increased by 4.9 percent from the
past year and in the global market it is higher by 3 percent .The revenues from
Muslim Friendly Travel services are being estimated to be worth $24 billion in
the year 2015 by the report.
Another
report named Tourism and Halal Industry which is according to Global Sharia
Perspective , authorised by the founding CEO of the IAIS ( International
Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies) Malaysia , Professor Dr Mohammad Hashim
Kamali stated that Islamic tourism only catches a million Muslims performing
Hajj or Umrah in Mecca and Madina, or the shrines of Najaf and Karbala in Iraq
from worldwide showing that Islamic tourism is lagging behind and needs achieve
international tourism in its full capacity .
The
most important reason of viewing Halal Tourism Industry according to Sharia
perspective is because of Muslim Islamic and dietary rules. As there are many
Muslims following the Sharia perspective there is a need to find out the
scientific research on healthy food. Halal certified procedures helps to ensure
that the attributes like quality, attractiveness, clean operations and
cleanliness is observed in Halal food chains and storage being provided in the
tourist spots. Observing through a macro perspective also states that absence
of Halal certified standards in Halal tourism affects the consumer confidence
at large due to which trusting on “Halal” or “Muslim-friendly” tags is
difficult.
Halal Tourism industry is also affected by a number of suppliers who find it
difficult to adapt and ensure that the customs are according to the compliance
with Halal standards needed to access the Halal market. Many different matters
are included such as ensuring that no alcohol substance is being mixed with
Halal products at the accommodation. The provision for prayer room needs to be
taken care off across the universal Halal travel sectors.
Countries
looking to access this Halal Travel Sector need to set up more standard
criteria for certifying halal in more broad ranging services. Halal travel and
tourism is a way of encouraging Muslims to travel all around the world keeping
in mind the Sharia compliance based on Islamic rules and principles.
